Stylish Verwood Pottery pitcher. salt glazed, made from local Dorset yellow clay
The potteries date from the 14th century, although there is some evidence of Roman potteries.
The last remaining factory at 'Cross Roads' closed in 1952
The pottery was very porous, so most items were always fully glazed inside with the outsides 'Raw Glazed'- partially glazed outside

 

Condition: Very good, useable. Lovely rough, patchy glaze, 
Tiny missing patch of glaze on rim- image 5

 

Dimensions: Height 20cm, max width inc handle 15cm, width at base 10cm
