Lovely 19th century, hand blown Mercury glass vase

-Mercury glass was originally called- 'Poor Mans Silver'

Mercury glass (silvered glass) is double walled glass with a silvering solution applied between the layers giving it a shining silver appearance

(Called mercury glass though silver nitrate was more commonly used)

The technique originated in Germany C1840's

In immaculate condition, missing it's original lead seal in the base

 

Dimensions: Height 18.5cm, Diameter at rim 8.5cm,  Diameter at base 8cm
