Wonderful, large 19th century, hand blown Mercury glass vase

-Mercury glass was originally called- 'Poor Mans Silver'

Mercury glass (silvered glass) is double walled glass with a silvering solution applied between the layers giving it a shining silver appearance

(Called mercury glass though silver nitrate was more commonly used)

The technique originated in Germany C1840's

With 'silver/mint' green inner lining & in immaculate condition, missing it's original lead seal in the base

 

Dimensions: Height 24cm, Diameter at rim 9.5cm, Central diameter 10cm, diameter at base 10cm
