A collection of 6 pretty, early 20th century perfume bottles, three with stoppers

Made in Torquay from Devon clay & terracotta, these are typical of a huge range of different 'Mottoware' products manufactured in the area

One marked Longpark, other producers were Watcombe and Allervale

The designs were created with slip applied to the surface and often decorated with stylised flowers and foliage and with a 'Motto'

This selection mentioning Devon Violets, Devon Lavender, Scottish Heather and advertising- 'Boots The Chemist' 

Lownds-Pateman started production of 'Devon Violets' perfume in 1921

 

In excellent condition, two little chips on the rim of Lavender only
